Belgravia Services Limited is seeking a Project manager to oversee the construction of a commercial and retail development in Nairobi.
Reporting to the Chief Projects Manager, the Project Manager will work in consultation and lead a team of highly experienced technical team and consultants in delivery of the projects.
He/She will work closely with other service contractors and government authorities to ensure compliance.
The manager will lead in the project documentation, planning, implementation and commissioning. Planning
  • Plan the project in order to accomplish its goals impeccably within constraints such as time and cost and deliver quality standard;
  • Prepare preliminary cost plans;
  • Schedule tasks deadlines and milestones for all stakeholders and resources;
  • Identify and schedule uncertainties, conflicts and risks for both the stakeholders;
  • Assist in the finalization of building designs with the selected architectural firm;
  • Assist in the selection of contractor including managing the tender process;
  • Ensure compliance and permits in time; and
  • Lead in resourcing the key personnel for the project.
Construction
  • Organise pre-construction phase conferences;
  • Monitor construction progress;
  • Organise and convene site meetings;
  • Administer construction contracts;
  • Cost control and management;
  • Coordinate procurement and delivery of material and equipment resources; and
  • Ensure compliance with specification, health and safety standards and environmental regulations and standards.
Evaluation and Reporting
  • Track and report progress;
  • Conduct, record and circulate minutes of all the project meetings;
  • Provide bi-weekly reports to the management on schedule updates, tracking, critical path schedule updates, and tracking cash flow schedules, manpower schedules, procurement; and requirements, change orders, procurement updates, contractor billings and risk reports.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 12 years experience in the construction industry with at least 5 years in leading Projects. (Experience in the construction of a commercial and retail development will be added advantage);
  • A minimum of a post graduate degree in the construction industry (Architecture, Building Technology, Quantity Surveying, Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering).
  • Extensive relevant experience will be considered in lieu of the post graduate degree;
  • Knowledge and ability to work with spreadsheets, word processors, project management tools and CAD software.

Job Summary: 
Coordinate and manage all: Business renewals, Marketing, Underwriting, Claims, undertaking and Customers service at Branch level. Detailed Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensuring business renewals and follow ups.
  • Processing business quotations
  • Register new business – as per targets agreed on the departmental budget.
  • Source from renewing clients and cross selling with General Insurance clients
  • Cover write up to clients for review
  • Policy documents issuing
  • Proper client documentation on file.
  • Minimize losses by ensuring thorough vetting of all claims before forwarding them for approval.
  • Vetting of claims, checking on what is payable and not payable, either due to the nature of illness or mode of treatment or payment within the Kenya Medical Practitioners & Dentist Board guidelines.
  • Go through pre-authorization forms and scrutinize forms especially for clear diagnosis management and nature of treatment.  Requesting for further information/medical reports Liaise with doctors, brokers and clients at large for patient admissions
  • Advise members on how best to utilize their benefits by recommending cheaper facilities and cheaper options e.g. maternity packages, chronic management facilities
  • Advising doctors on referral of patients with chronic illness to cheaper facilities
  • Capping/reviewing of undertaking through advise through letters to providers where and when necessary to avoid exceeded limits and hospitals/doctors taking advantages
  • Sending undertakings to providers within the timelines
  • Ensure all clients queries are responded to timely & professionally in line with GA procedure and policies
  • Contact clients for conducting cover presentations and health talks Reconciliations
  • Providers reconciliation and liaise with brokers on where member accessed service not authorized which needs to be paid to providers
  • Sending invoices of exceeded limits to Brokers / Companies for payment
Knowledge, skills and Abilities

Credentials and Experience
  • University degree or equivalent.

Action Against Hunger (ACF)-USA is part of the ACF-lnternational Network which works to save lives by combating hunger and diseases that threaten the lives of vulnerable communities, through nutrition, food security, water and sanitation, health and advocacy.
ACF-USA is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the following positions;
Safety And Security Coordinator
Reporting to the Country Director, the safety and security coordinator’s objectives will be to optimize the security management structures and plans for the four ACF entities in Nairobi (ACF Kenya, Somalia, Regional Logistics Center and Regional Training Center) as well as increasing the security management capacity of ACF Kenya mission.
The coordinator will provide an overall safety and security assessment of Nairobi urban area, Mombasa and the Kenyan coastal area.
He/she will review security-related management and communication structure presently used to manage security between ACF Kenya, ACF Somalia, the Regional Training Center and the Regional Logistics Center and conduct physical security assessment of the ACF offices, guesthouses and expatriates premises in Nairobi (accompanied by the respective reports).
He/She will develop a contingency plan for the upcoming 2012/2013 General and presidential elections applicable for all four ACF entities operating in Nairobi.
The incumbent will also in collaboration with logistics department, review and revise the National Security Plan, the SOPs for all five field bases and develop local contingency plans ahead of the general and Presidential elections.
In addition he/she will provide on the job training and capacity building for NBC Logistics team, Dadaab Field Coordinator and Heads of Bases to better implement security management (National Plans and SOPs), Provide training to all ACF-Kenya staff on safety and security matters as per a continuous mission training plan and develop security induction briefing guidelines and launch a monthly incidents and analysis tools covering Nairobi and all field operations sites.
Qualifications and Skills required
  • Graduate level skills in any related disciplines
  • Advanced certificates/training in Security management from a well recognized institute or agency
  • Significant previous experience overseas with humanitarian work, in complex crisis and/or natural disaster
  • Substantial experience of work in country under security focus
  • Experience in managing security for an NGO
  • Familiarity with Humanitarian principles and practices
  • Experience operating in a volatile security environment
  • Excellent communication system skills
  • Experience in fleet and assets management

The European Commission’s Directorate General ECHO, is the European Commission Department responsible for financing humanitarian assistance and civil protection.
ECHO finances a range of partners, which include NGOs, UN agencies and the Red  Cross Movement, to provide assistance to people affected by both natural and man-made disasters.
The ECHO Office in Nairobi is a dynamic, multinational hub, providing technical support to ECHO’s operations in Eastern, Central and Southern Africa. This position is a national staff position.
1. Duties & Responsibilities
The Programme Assistant (PA) will work in the Regional Support Office for East, Central and Southern Africa, and will assist  ECHO to provide high quality technical advice and support to ECHO’s field offices throughout the region, with a particular focus on ECHO’s disaster risk reduction assistance activities.
The PA will be required to assist in assessing; analysing & following up ECHO funded projects; gathering & consolidating  technical information; as well as contributing to strategy and programming.
The PA position may require significant travel throughout the region.
2. Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of five years work experience in the humanitarian sector, a relevant university degree would be an asset;
  • Relevant professional and technical experience in disaster risk management;
  • Good knowledge of international NGOs and UN aid agencies is an advantage;
  • Work experience outside Kenya in an international setting is an advantage;
  • Good understanding of humanitarian issues in Eastern, Central and Southern Africa;
  • Thorough knowledge of Logical Framework Approach and Project Cycle Management.
3. Required Skills.
  • Fluent written and spoken – English is required. A working knowledge of French is an added advantage.
  • Personal initiative; ability to work both independently and in a team, with ability to set priorities, and to work to tight deadlines;
  • Demonstrated analytical capacity, and drafting ability;
  • Commitment, determination, reliability and a high degree of personal integrity & discretion;
  • Ability to analyse and process information;
